Rugby Philosophy in Form 4 & 41
Rugby is played for enjoyment. It is played to develop the boys socially, physically and emotionally.
I will pick 4 teams each week. Each week I will make small changes to personnel and positions from the previous week. Some weeks your son will play the full game, others he will play one half. Over the course of the season all boys will play the same amount of games.
The boys will be informed of the weeks fixtures on Tuesday and must know their availability by Wednesday. The teams will then be posted online on Wednesday afternoon.
In St. Mary’s we coach boys and skills, not drills and teams, our teams are inclusive of all interest and ability levels. I hope you enjoy cheering on your son and his opposition this year.

Spike Milligan in Form 4 – Learn 1 poem for Thursday
|On the Ning Nang NongOn the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There’s a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can’t catch ’em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!Spike Milligan
|GrannyThrough every nook and every cranny
The wind blew in on poor old Granny
Around her knees, into each ear
(And up nose as well, I fear)All through the night the wind grew worse
It nearly made the vicar curse
The top had fallen off the steeple
Just missing him (and other people)It blew on man, it blew on beast
It blew on nun, it blew on priest
It blew the wig off Auntie Fanny-
But most of all, it blew on Granny!Spike Milligan
STORY WEEK; February 1st
Next week Feb 1st is Story Week in school and we’ve trips and in class activities all week dedicated to creating stories. The theme this year is Irish Myths and Legends.
As part of this I would like to show the class a classic myth film on Friday; I’m including The Hobbit, An unexpected Journey which is 12A as an option for the boys to watch.
If any parent has concerns about their son watching this movie please email me firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll remove it as an option (confidentially of course).

A Soldier’s Song
Soldiers are we
whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come
from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free,
No more our ancient sire land
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the gap of danger
In Erin’s cause, come woe or weal
‘Mid cannons’ roar and rifles peal,
We’ll chant a soldier’s song.
