Form 2 has 19 students. Under the careful guidance of Miss O’Connell the boys of Form 2.0 can reach both their academic and sporting potential.

The boys had a fantastic time walking to Rathmine’s post office today. Santa will have plenty of reading homework this week!

We are learning all about solids, liquids and gases this week in science. Here we are acting out how molecules behave in the different states of matter. :)






On Tuesday we put our scientific and culinary skills to the test, creating green and blue play-dough from scratch! Lots of mess and lots of fun!

This week Form 2 are celebrating Maths Week 2016!

We have been creating and solving our own maths problems, played maths games and will finish off the week with a fun maths trail on Friday! :)



We worked so hard this week learning all about compound words, subtraction with regrouping and mapping that we decided to have some play time together for the final minutes of the day! :)

Our first week in St. Mary’s is in full swing!

Yesterday the boys had their first music lesson with Ms. McMahon and this morning they have art with Ms. Fitzpatrick.

Saturday – Rugby (9.00am) school front pitch Rathmines.   St.Mary’s jersey, white shorts, blue/white socks, boots and gumshield.

Don’t forget your gumshield  and water for all training and rugby sessions and matches.

Communion picnic

The boys have worked so hard over the past few weeks in preparation for their First Holy Communion. We decided to have a picnic and some playtime in the sun as a well deserved rest! :)

A present from Ethiopia

Today Fr. Paddy showcased some artwork brought back from an Ethiopian prison. We were graciously given the picture of the monkey, who has yet to be named! :)

Trip to the Ark Theatre

On Friday the 11th of March the boys of Form 2 travelled to The Ark Theatre in Templebar to see “BEES! A Musical”. This was an educational and fun musical all about the important role bees play in looking after our environment.

Afterwards we were lucky to be paid a visit by the cast members!

A big thank you to Ms. Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Kenny and Mrs. Daunt-Brennan for providing lifts. It was very much appreciated! :)

Trip to the Irish Military Museum

Today Forms 2, 2.1, 3, 3.1 and 4 travelled to County Meath to visit the Military Museum. It was a fantastic day filled with historical facts and plenty of tanks and guns!

Second Class Rugby Finals



Story week

Today we took a trip on the Story-telling bus! We heard two magnificent stories, a poem and even had a sing song. We also stopped off in Bushy Park to search for leprechauns! :)

As part of story week Mr. Tom Brennan and Fr. Paddy visited the class and read some fantastic stories to us!

Today the boys of Form 2 put their culinary and mathematical skills to the test. We took over the staffroom and cooked up a storm!

Reports indicate that all rice crispy buns are MIA! :)



The return of Pegman!


Today we played our favourite game Pegman!

The rules are simple, grab the pegs but don’t get hit by the noodle!

This week the boys showed off their wonderful healthy lunches as part of Operation Transformation!



Last Friday the Form 2 boys experienced their very first “Roar” in support of the gallant St. Mary’s College Senior Rugby team!

Last week Form 2 joined the rest of the school to mark the beginning of the 1916 Rising centenary celebrations. The Irish Proclamation was read aloud by Diarmuid from Form 4 and the entire assembly sang Amhrán na bhFiann.



Space Week – part 2

Friday’s experiments brought our Space Week to a close.

Outside the boys re-created how satellites orbit the Earth using chalk and string.

Inside the boys worked together and built their own rockets using string, balloons, straws and a lot of cello-tape! :)

Space Week

Space week is in full swing here in Form 2!

So far this week the boys have simulated a solar eclipse, calculated their body weight on the moon and investigated the most efficient way to burn rocket fuel!!

We will conduct some more fun experiments this Friday.


Titanic project presentations

The boys of Form 2 have surpassed expectations and created amazing Titanic projects!

So much hard work has gone into them and the boys have fantastic facts to share. All of the projects will be on display in the school, but you can also view pictures of them in our Gallery tab.

A big thank you to everyone at home who helped the boys this week. :)

Having fun with clay!

Today the boys had fun experimenting with clay to create a Christmas ornament.

Christmas presents are sorted! :)


A well deserved reward!

This week the boys of Form 2 have worked very hard to prepare for their Communion Enrolment Ceremony. They’ve also continued to do their very best work in class as well.

Today after working on our spellings we took a break to play together! :)





Tuesday November 17th

Yesterday the boys of Form 2 sent letters to President Michael D. Higgins telling him all about themselves and life in St. Mary’s College. Our fingers are crossed that we get a reply! :)



Friday October 23rd

Here we all are in our fantastic Halloween costumes!

The boys made a great effort and are very spooky!

Later on today Witch Marian will visit us to show us how to make a witch’s brew.

To celebrate National Maths Week the boys of Form 2 completed a maths trail around the school yard. They also played maths games, solved puzzles and created a “Math About Me” poster.
